Police in Buxton are appealing for witnesses after alcohol was stolen from a supermarket in the town.

At around 8.50pm on Wednesday, February 17, a man entered Sainsbury’s supermarket on Eagle Parade in Buxton.

He began looking around the store and placed two bottles of alcohol into his basket. The man then transferred the bottles into a carrier bag and left the shop without offering payment.

He was described as white, around 5ft 7ins tall, ‘plump’, and aged in his late 40s, early 50s. He wore a dark coloured baseball cap worn backwards, a black puffa jacket with an orange hood on the inside, and carried a yellow ‘Bag for Life’.

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have seen a man matching that description in the Eagle Parade area to contact them.

Anyone with information is asked to call PC Jonathan Taylor on 101, quoting crime number 7280/16, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
