Police are appealing for information after a tractor was stolen from a farm in Hartington.

The yellow JCB tractor was taken sometime overnight between Tuesday, March 14 and Wednesday, March 15 from the courtyard of the farm, off Wallpit Lane.

Officers believe it may have travelled towards the centre of Hartington.

On the same night, thieves tried to steal a tractor from a farm at Wyaston. It is not known at this stage if the two incidents are linked.

PC James Bowler, of the rural crime team, said: “We would appeal for anyone who may have seen the yellow tractor being driven in the Hartington area on that night, or with any information about the incidents, to contact us.

“Investigations are currently ongoing, and we would also like to raise awareness of these recent incidents with our local and farming communities and urge anyone who may see anything suspicious to contact the police as soon they can.”
