POLICE will be stepping up patrols around Whaley Bridge Primary School after reports that groups of children have been getting into the grounds at night.
Officers from the Whaley Bridge Safer Neighbourhood Team were contacted by staff from the Buxton Road school about the issue.
A new CCTV system capable of recording clear images has been installed at the school and police will be monitoring the footage to identify any trespassers.
PCSO Tracy Jones, from the Safer Neighbourhood team, said: “No damage has been caused to the school by the youngsters getting into the grounds but staff are worried that it may only be a matter of time.”
