Nuthall woman distraught after burglars steal treasured love letters sent by late husband

A Nuthall woman has been left heartbroken after burglars broke into her home and stole a collection of love letters from her late husband.

The letters, which date back to the 1960s before the couple were married, were stolen by two men who targeted the victim’s property on Nottingham Road on Sunday January 18, at around 12.20pm.

The pair also took the woman’s purse, containing cash and bank cards, as well as an antique silver cigarette case that was a treasured keep-sake.

DC Carl Miller, of Nottinghamshire Police, said the offenders have caused a lot of pain for little financial gain.

“I’d like to hope they have a conscience and hand the stolen property in at the nearest police station,” he added.

The woman, who is in her 60s, is said to be distraught.

The suspects are described as white, aged 16 to 18, of slim to medium build and around 5’8” tall. One was wearing a grey tracksuit bottoms and a grey top, with a logo on the back and the hood pulled up. The other wore a grey top with the hood up, blue tracksuit bottoms and blue trainers.
