Incidents of vandalism at a New Mills school have prompted an appeal by police.

Residents are being urged to be vigilant after reports of damage to the roof tiles of St George’s Primary School after offenders climbed onto the building.

PCSO Lee Baker, from the town’s Safer Neighbourhood team, said: “Residents are our eyes and ears in the community so we are asking for their help in reporting any suspicious activity close to schools, especially over the summer holidays.

“If you see anything out of the ordinary or suspicious vehicles close to the schools, call us on 101 or 999 in an emergency so that we can stop a crime from happening.”
