Robert James Harvey, 40, of Fairfield Road, admitted possessing the 0.38g of heroin after he was spoken to by police on November 12.

Jennifer Fitzgerald, prosecuting at High Peak Magistrates’ Court, said officers had stopped Harvey as he walked along West Road and he told them he had drugs and where they were.

His home address was later searched and a number of items associated with drug use were found.

Harvey pleaded guilty to possession of the Class A drug.

Kirsten Collings, defending, said: “It is clear from the description of the facts that he was compliant with police when searched.”

She said Harvey had a number of drug-related convictions in recent years.

“He is a long-term drug user and has been battling these demons for many years,” she said.
