Man arrested in Derbyshire after ramming into police car

A man arrested after ramming into a police vehicle on Glossop street on Monday night was found to be in possession of drugs and a weapon.

Derbyshire Road Crime Unit said the driver broke out the box and rammed into their vehicle as he failed to stop when ordered by the police.

He proceeded to drive dangerously through narrow streets.

The man, said the police, discarded drugs as he drove away but was later apprehended.

Further investigation by the police at the man’s home address found that he was in possession of Class A drugs and a weapon.

The police also published pictures of the raid, showing some cash, some drugs and what appeared to be a firearm.

The police team tweeted: “1x danger removed from streets. Our heroes from @DerbyshireARU (Derbyshire Armed Response Unit) came to make safe the weapon and offer advice. Thanks guys.”

The operation was also assisted by High Peak Response team, Derbyshire Police Contact Centre and Derbyshire Dog Police.
