Man arrested for drugs offences in New Mills

A man has been arrested for drugs offences after police stopped a car in New Mills

A Honda Civic was pulled over by officers on patrol on Mellor Road, on Wednesday (May 13).

A search was carried out and what is believed to be a quantity of heroin was discovered.

The 20 year old, from Manchester, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs, affray and driving offences. He was questioned by officers and was released on police bail while inquiries continue.

Inspector Dave Parker, who is in charge of policing in the High Peak, said: “Despite the current circumstances we live in with the Covid-19 pandemic, we continue to work hard to target drug misuse in the High Peak area and keep our communities safe.

“If you have any information about drug related activity in your neighbourhood please report it to us. We take reports very seriously and will follow up information we receive.”
