Police alerted to two men acting suspiciously in Ashwood Park found they were in possession of a small quantity of drugs, a court heard.
Kenneth Daniel Johns, 45, admitted possession of a class C drug and cannabis resin, a Class B drug. Stephen John Twigge, 39, admitted possession of amphetamine, a class B drug, possession of a class C drug and possession of cannabis resin found after police searched his home on Fairfield Road, Buxton.
Kirsten Collings for Johns, of Highfields, Peak Dale, said: “He says he went to Ashwood Park to smoke some cannabis because it is a very quiet place.” She said Johns was alcohol dependent, and was on benefits due to ill health.
Twigge, who represented himself said: “I’m very sorry for what I did. I have given up drugs completely.”
Both men were ordered to pay fines, costs and a surcharge totalling £167 each. An order was made for the drugs to be forfeited and destroyed.
