.A man threatened staff and demanded cash before fleeing empty-handed from a Buxton petrol station in an attempted robbery.

he man went into the Essar (Spot) service station on Leek Road on March 6, at about 11pm, according to Derbyshire Police.

He went to the counter and threatened a member of staff before demanding cash.

But when workers activated the alarm, he ran off towards Carr Road without taking anything.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Constabulary said: “It is believed the man pictured may be able to help with our enquiries into the incident, and if you recognise him we would ask you to contact Detective Constable Jane Cyples quoting reference number 2*129205.”

Officers have been following a number of lines of enquiry into what happened.
