Jake Anthony Kilkline appeared before Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, January 30 and admitted assault and criminal damage following the incident on November 17 last year. The court heard that Kilkline, of Brook Street, Clay Cross, had been out drinking with his girlfriend before returning to her address in Bamford Road, Inkersall.Prosecuting, Sarah Haslam said: “There was a call made by a member of the public and police attended the address. They spoke to the complainant and it was clear that an argument had occurred.”She said that police had been called to the address on two previous occasions because the couple had got into heated arguments, and Kilkline had a previous conviction for domestic violence with a previous partner back in 2010, when he received a suspended prison sentence.Mitigating, Karl Meakin said: “This is a matter where the call to the police was made by a neighbour. There is no statement from the victim and he made full admissions in police interview, and he is probably only in court today because of his openness with police.“Both parties had been out drinking and were intoxicated. They returned home and got into an argument and he threw the phone at her out of frustration.”Kilkline was fined £450 by magistrates, who also ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £45 victim surcharge.
