A photograph taken by Derbyshire Police shows the van parked at the side of the road with flat tyres.

Worryingly police say the attack put the vehicle out of action – leaving officers involved ‘unable to respond to any further calls’.

Sergeant Anna Woodhouse of Glossop Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “It appears that a knife may have been used to puncture the tyre walls and it left our officer unable to respond to any further calls while recovery was arranged.

“The vehicle is now off the road until new tyres are fitted."

Police say a criminal damage investigation is underway and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
