Chesterfield residents told to use mobile phone to dial 999 for emergency

There has been an ongoing telecommunications issue affecting parts of Chesterfield that may prevent people dialing 999 from a landline, Derbyshire police said.

Members of the public who live in an area with an 01246 prefix and need to call the emergency services are instead urged to use a mobile phone until the issue is resolved.

The police said there is also a separate issue affecting non-emergency 101 calls across the country.

The police said both issues are being urgently investigated by BT and they will update their information when it is resolved.
