BREAKING NEWS: Fresh appeal in hunt for OAP’s tormentor

POLICE are continuing their search for a young male who allegedly threatened an 85-year-old Buxton woman with a rolling pin after releasing on bail two people who they now believe were not connected to the incident.

The attempted robbery occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a man entered a property on Knowles Close in Fairfield at 2.45pm and demanded money from the occupant, according to police.

Officers said the victim was then threatened but after she took the offender outside, he ran off.

The offender is described as 18-19 years of age, white with a thin pale face and approximately 5ft 9ins tall.

He was wearing a black jacket with the hood worn up, black trousers and black trainers.

Detective Sergeant Kev Morrissey at Buxton CID said: “We are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious males in this area on Tuesday afternoon to contact us.”

Officers are also asking local residents to look in their gardens and bins for a discarded rolling pin.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Morrissey at Buxton CID on 101. To report crime anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
