A project led by Buxton’s Special Constabulary officers saw more than 100 drivers given advice and packs to prevent thieves targeting their cars.

Volunteer officers patrolled streets around the town on the lookout for vehicles left insecure or with valuables on show.

The team found three cars with mobile phones on display and spoke to the owners about how easy it would have been for a thief to take them, as well as giving away 20 crime prevention packs with air fresheners and stickers telling would-be thieves that valuables have been removed.
