Crime prevention days to be held in Eyam

Police officers will be heading out in the mobile police station next week to host a number of crime prevention days in Eyam.

The village’s Safer Neighbourhood Team will be taking to the road on Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 13 to encourage local residents to chat to them about any neighbourhood concerns they may have.

Residents are being invited to visit the mobile police station which will be parked along Church Street in Eyam between 9am and 6m on both days.

Officers will be working alongside partner agencies to mark-up valuables with SmartWater kits to help to deter thieves from targeting homes in the area.

The team will be on hand during the events to speak to passers-by about the steps that they can take to boost their home and garden security over the summer months.

This includes ensuring that windows and doors are kept locked and that any sheds, garages and outbuildings are properly secure and fitted with a quality lock.

Officers are also encouraging residents to ensure that any valuables are out of view and that items such as tools, bikes and similar items are protected with a security marking fluid such as SmartWater.
