Firefighters from two counties are currently battling a blaze at a High Peak industrial estate.
Crews from Buxton, New Mills and Glossop are being supported by four fire engines from Greater Manchester at the factory fire on Dinting Lane Industrial Estate in Glossop.
Eyewitness Tony Kelzo described hearing a “loud bang” and seeing a plume of black smoke.
Incident Commander, Station Manager Paul Hawker said: “We are currently dealing with a large scale factory fire involving a quantity of paper and cloth.
“Due to the large amount of smoke coming from the fire, I would advise local residents to keep windows and doors closed to avoid any discomfort.”
It is anticipated that firefighting operations will continue into the early evening and will conclude with a full investigation into the cause of the fire.
Derbyshire police said there were currently road closures in operation in the area with both Dinting Road and Dinting Lane being closed.
