Crack down on speeding Fairfield motorists

Police in Fairfield will be putting the brakes on speeding motorists after setting the issue as their latest policing priority.

This follows a Safer Neighbourhood meeting yesterday, Tuesday, August 16, whereby officers met with local residents to discuss neighbourhood issues and decide the next set of policing priorities.

The Fairfield Safer Neighbourhood Team, made up of Sergeant Denis Murphy, PC Andy Crosthwaite, and PCSOs Pat Findlay-Wilson and Sally Bowden, will now be focusing on the issue of speeding for the next three months.

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: “The team will be taking action to highlight the importance of safe and considerate driving and will be carrying out regular speed checks on roads throughout Fairfield.

Motorists will be advised about the importance of sticking to the law on the roads, especially around primary schools where young children and their parents cross regularly.”

Warnings or fines will be issued to motorists who are found to be breaking the speed limit.
