The development off Brown Edge Close received many objections including a 228-strong petition from nearby residents, and the plans were turned down on landscape grounds.

Chair of the committee Cllr David Lomax said: “Now the five-year plan is in place it makes it easier to protect green spaces.

“The development would have been very prominent for those driving in and out of Buxton and the plans were refused by councillors.”

Developer Glennmark Trading Limited wanted to demolish two houses to make way for the development, however since August the plans have been met with objections.

Gillian Hall, a resident from Brown Edge, said: “I am worried that in winter-time cars will park on Brown Edge Road causing more disruption.”

David Jackson, another resident, said: “The access from Brown Edge Close is directly on to Brown Edge Road and extremely close to an already dangerous blind bend.”

Other concerns came from Michelle Petronozi. “The development will result in encroachment into the countryside and have a negative visual affect from the A6 and local area,” she said.

“There is no satisfactory solution to where and how sewerage surface run off will go if it cannot connect to Brown Edge Road.”
