Council invite public to birth centre review

THE review of Corbar Birth Centre is to be discussed at a Derbyshire County Council meeting next week.

NHS Derbyshire County are currently engaging on plans to close Corbar, which is based at Buxton Hospital, as well as the Darley Birth Centre in Darley Dale and have asked Derbyshire County Council’s improvement and scrutiny committee for its views.

The committee are next set to meet on Friday, October 14, and will discuss the review in a meeting to which the public are invited.

The meeting, which takes place at Bakewell Town Hall at 10.30am, will be attended by members of the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, High Peak Clinical Commissioning Group, North Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Matlock Hospital League of Friends and the Save Corbar campaign group.

Cllr Gill Farrington, the chairman of the committee, said: “We are keen for the public to hear from the people involved in providing these services as to what the future may hold should they close.

“We are also keen to hear the concerns of local people and would like them to send us their questions.”
