Organisers hope spring will be more forgiving, and have planned a packed programme of activities such as planting seeds to create a wild flower meadow and planting bluebells in the wood to help create a wet woodland habitat.

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust’s Kaite Helps said: “All activities are designed to encourage people into supporting their environment and community, as well as improving their own health and wellbeing.

“It is all part of the Get Better with Nature campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the value of nature to health, wellbeing and communities across the UK.”

Among the activities on offer there will be plenty to do for young conservationists, such as fun natural art activities and a mini-beast hunting session.
