Whether planning our holiday or stay-cation, be style ready with this August’s biggest trend – the mini bag.

My fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld – creative director of Chanel and Fendi – has released his line of miniature bags. Some are so teeny that they are designed to be attached to a bigger bag. Miniature bags are this season’s must-have.

Aside from the miniature bags’s lack of practicality you have to admit, they do look sweet and they beat lugging around a chunky bag in the heat. I attach mine to a tote, or conceal a fold-up canvas inside it. There are hundreds to choose from.

On its own the miniature is great for summer fun, when a lipstick, card and phone are all you need. They look great paired with floral summer dresses, add a quirk to the staple jeans and trusty white tee, or pair well with matching coloured shoes, and your Little Black Dress (LBD) for a smarter look.

Since studying, I held on tight to my trustee big bag, so I can’t believe I’ve fallen in love with my new tasselled miniature, with its gorgeous pastel blue handle. I rescued it from Marks and Spencer’s sale rail and it made its first appearance for my first weekend summer bike ride. In the glorious sunshine, downsizing worked in my favour. Ditch your big bags and get exploring with your miniature.
