Trade is on the up after campaign for more group travel companies to head to Buxton has proved to be a winner for businesses

The latest meeting of Vision Buxton confirmed the economic boost to the town.

Committee chair Liz Mackenzie said: “Hotels, venues and festivals have all seen a marked increase in group travel in the past year, and there is great potential in this market for an economic boost for the town.”

Vision Buxton, which brings together local businesses, community groups and individuals who are all passionate about making the town an even better place to live, work and play, has been working with the group sector of the travel industry to promote Buxton as a destination.

The company has visited trade shows, placed adverts in trade magazines and used e-mail shots to raise awareness of Buxton over the last two years.

They recognise the huge importance of marketing Buxton to visitors and help tourists to enjoy their time in the town.

Now the search is on for parking space – which does not have to be in the town centre – for coaches which have dropped off tourists in Buxton.

The Vision Buxton’s Group Travel sub-committee is keen to work with anyone whose business would benefit from getting involved. Their next meeting is at 9am on March 16 at The Palace Hotel.
