Cinema ‘reviews’ policy after new born baby ‘disturbs’ Fifty Shades screening

Cinemagoers flocked to the release of the erotic film which has topped the box office for the last two weekends.

The Savoy Cinema, on Bridge Street, Worksop, said it was ‘made aware’ of a young child, thought to be a few months old, with its mother at the 8.30pm screening on Friday 20th February.

Emma Dexter, of Furnival Street, Manton, said: “The baby started to cry at a point in the film when it was really quiet.”

“We were sat near the front but they were near the back.”

“It felt wrong for an adult film, it is not appropriate.”

The cinema said young babies are allowed into screenings and that it was not a mistake to allow them in.

A spokesman for Savoy Cinema said: “We apologise for the disturbance caused by a baby during a recent screening of Fifty Shades of Grey.

“Balancing the interests of different parts of the community we serve is sometimes a challenge and like everyone we sometimes get things wrong.”

“Whilst we appreciate that parents with new born babies like to the watch the latest blockbusters, in the light of this incident we have reviewed our baby in arms admission policy. We are looking at hosting dedicated parent and baby screenings in the near future.”
