A NEW MILLS woman has organised a fundraising event in memory of her best friend who recently lost her battle with cancer.
Debbie Nevett is holding a ‘Cocktail and Posh Chips’ party at the Packhorse in Hayfield on Friday, November 30, from 7.30pm.
Entertainment will be provided by a live singer and table magician, and a raffle of prizes generously donated by local businesses will also be held.
The event will be raising money for Cancer Research UK in memory of Amanda Platt, from Hazel Grove, who died in August.
Debbie said: “At times like this you just feel that you cannot do anything, but the drugs Amanda was on were working for a while so I thought it would be good to raise some money towards research.”
Tickets cost £10 and are available from insurance brokers Nevett & Taylor, Union Road, New Mills.
Debbie is still accepting donations of raffle prizes, and anyone who can help should contact her on 01663 744758.
