Transport for after- school events and clubs for older people could be at risk unless more volunteers can be found to drive Buxton Volunteer Centre’s mini bus.

With a number of long-term volunteers retiring from their role, more volunteer drivers are now urgently needed.

Volunteers are wanted who are between 21 – 70 years old, have a six or fewer points on their licence and have a few hours a week/month to spare.

Howard Gunn, Transport Manager, said: “These volunteers provide a valuable lifeline for some of our older passengers, enabling them to get to lunch clubs and have social outings.

“Also, they ensure that our Disabled Children’s Service and Buxton and District Summer Club can continue to run its after school clubs for disabled children.”

Full training to drive the minibus and training in wheelchair handling and passenger assistance will be given.
