Two firefighters have opened a new gym in Chapel-en-le-Frith to meet the needs of the people.

Both Rick Hughes and Chris Prodromis are retained firefighters at Chapel and are on call every day saving lives but have found the time to open a new gym.

Fitness Station, on Long Lane, welcomed its first customers on Saturday and Rick said: “This is new and exciting for the area and this is a gym for the people that train.

“We are able to give more dedicated space to different activities for those who may have lost motivation in the gym.

“Our classes are designed to change the way you think about fitness. We have lots of different training methods which will suit all fitness levels.”

New new gym is equipped with an astro-turf room, a multi-functional rig as well as an abs area, classrooms and standard gym equipment like treadmills, exercise bikes and weights.

Rick, who works as a printer when he is not on call, said: “Being a retained firemen you need to be near to the station and ready to drop everything at a moments notice when you get the shout so we needed to be close and when this opportunity came up we knew we had to take it.

“Me and Chris are both passionate about this gym and although their is the leisure centre in Chapel this is offering something different.”

Fitness Station has created one job vacancy in the town who will be there all the time and covering during call-outs.
Unlimited access to the gym and classes is £44, £29 for just the gym or classes but people can use the alternate for £3. £5 for non-members for classes or gym use.
