A former bank in Chapel-en-le-Frith could soon be given a new lease of life.

Planning permission is being sought to change the use of the former NatWest Bank building on the Market Place, to office, storage and retail for Rubicon Watches, in addition to three self-contained offices.

While retaining the bulk of the existing building, the retailer is proposing external works to give the premises a “more approachable public face”, along with the introduction of a new ‘retail window’ at the Market Place level.

Documents submitted on behalf of the application state: “The proposals are put forward as an acceptable use for the existing building that will provide three further offices within the town centre whilst also acting as the catalyst for changes that will undoubtedly improve the appearance of the building and the way it presents itself to the public.”
