A 13-year-old visitor had to be helped by mountain rescue personnel following a fall at Peveril Castle, Castleton.

The youngster from Kingsley, Norfolk, staying locally at Gradbach Scout Camp, near Flash, was walking with a friend down a steep grassy bank inside the castle when one of them slipped and fell onto the girl knocking her over.

The Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams Snatch Squad was called to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

The girl was carried on a stretcher down the steep path to Castleton Village and transferred to the waiting ambulance and taken to Buxton Cottage Hospital for further treatment.
