Alumni students from Buxton and Leek College are invited to inspire future generations.
The North East Midlands Collaborative Outreach Network (NEMCON) is funding an initiative with charity Future First to boost state students’ career confidence and academic success by linking them with inspirational alumni.
Christine Gilbert, chair of Future First and a former Ofsted chief inspector, said: “Every state school student should have the opportunity to succeed in life after school, regardless of their background and any schools are already harnessing the skills and experience of alumni as role models. “If students see people like them have succeeded, they are more likely to believe they can too. They work harder and have higher expectations of success. We want more schools to see the benefits of using their alumni as a powerful resource.”
