Floral displays by students at a Buxton adult education centre brightened up the High Peak mayor’s civic dinner which was held on Saturday.

Students on the floristry course at Fairfield Adult Community Education Centre were chosen to design arrangements for the civic dinner, hosted by High Peak Mayor, Cllr Alan Barrow.

Zara Reid, who is the course tutor, said: “The mayor asked us to do the arrangements for the civic charity dinner and students made flower displays for it.”

Around nine mature students, who are working at the Victoria Park Road centre towards a Level Two City and Guilds in floristry, made the displays.

Zara said: “The mayor was very pleased with them and told the students he thought the displays were beautiful. He thanked the students for doing them.”

The college also took part in the project two years ago.
