Buxton Spa Prize 2018 entrants wow judges
Entrants in the en plein painting competition - where an entire painting is finished outdoors - again wowed a panel of distinguished judges with their creations.
An exhibition featuring the work of over 160 artists is running at The Green Man Gallery until the end of the month.

Hide AdAndrew Horrod was crowned this year’s Buxton Spa Prize winner, ahead of Janet Mayled and Rob Wilson, and collected £5,000 from the Trevor Osborne Charitable Trust.
He said: “I am delighted to have won first prize for a painting called Morning Sunlight and Shadows, Pavilion Gardens which is an acrylic on canvas.”
Work by Alex Kelly, Tracey Coverley and Jenny Aitken was all highly commended.
Launched in 2014, the Buxton Spa Prize aims to raise the profile of artists and their work and further enhance Buxton’s national reputation as a centre for arts and culture.

Hide AdThe winner of the acclaimed Harold Riley Sketchbook Prize was Tony Beresford, while Beatrix Forrest collected first prize in the Buxton Spa Children’s Prize and Emily Henshaw was the Buxton Spa Teen Prize winner.
The exhibition at The Green Man Gallery is open until July 31 from 10.30am until 5.30pm, with a chance to view and purchase the works of art.
