A homeware shop has scooped second place in a national window display competition to mark the 200th anniversary of a British pottery company.

Hargreaves and Son Limited, in Spring Gardens bowled over judges with their creativity and beat tough competition from Spode’s Blue Italian stockists across the UK.

Martin Coles-Evans from Hargreaves and Son Limited said: “We decided on a garden party and it’s been a real talking point. Everyone has remarked on it.”

Judge Phil Atherton said: “I am absolutely blown away by their hard work and effort, we believe Hargreaves & Son Limited’s innovative display showcased the best of Blue Italian.”

The business has won £500 worth of stock for their store and a £100 voucher.
