Five Sea Cadets from the Buxton unit took part in the North-west area sailing regatta at the Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre.
Fifteen sailing dinghies, racing in four classes, were entered from units all over the north-west of England.
The Buxton cadets were under the expert guidance of their unit officers, LtCdr Bruce Luckman and Lt Dave O’Donnell and sailed brilliantly in conditions which ranged from light winds to a Force 4.
Tibault Coulson won the Laser Pico class, Nathanael Davis won the PY class. Beatrice Davis came second in the Toppers and Jacob Harris and Dougie Wilson came third in the RS Quest.
It was a great day for all the cadets who will now be working on their racing skills ahead of the Sea Cadets’ National Regatta in September.
The Sea Cadets meet twice a week at the unit on Silverlands and regularly sail at Errwood Sailing Club. Membership is open for boys and girls aged between 10 and 18 years.
