Buxton mum hits TV screens in new reality show ReFreshers Week

A Buxton mum is appearing on a new reality TV show, hoping to win £25,000 and re-fresh her life.

Elysia Downing is taking part in ReFreshers Week, a new show running for five weeks on MTV. It brings together eight strangers on a journey discovering new places and new people while fearlessly taking on uni-inspired challenges, all with the hope of winning a life-changing sum of money.

The 27-year-old said: “I was the ‘goody two shoes’ in school and was predicted to get straight A grades in my GCSEs, but sadly my father passed away just before my exams so I never sat them.”

The mother-of-one said: “I have always been very ambitious and driven, and even set up my own freelance photography studio.

“I’m fiercely independent, but wanted to take part in ReFreshers Week to experience the student life that I could have had, if my circumstances had been different.”

The show will be hosted by actor Tom Rosenthal and feature an all-star line up including Gemma Collins, rapper Lady Leshurr and DJ Jodie Harsh.

ReFreshers Week presented by Strongbow is on Mondays at 10pm on MTV.
