Peter has served with the Buxton Team for more than 40 years in varying roles and supported the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation as its Treasurer for many years. He remains an operational team member and a keen hill walker. However a recent injury sustained whilst descending from a walk on Kinder Scout, resulted in him being rescued by his team colleagues. This was followed by surgery and time in hospital, which has slowed him down a little but he is on the mend and will soon be fully fit again.

Peter said: “The medal was presented by Prince William who is Patron of Mountain Rescue England & Wales. He was amused with my story, and asked that his best wishes be passed to team members.

"This was a day I will never forget”.
