Buxton mountain rescue team called out to two casualties

Teams joined North West Ambulance Service and the air ambulance to Teggs Nose Country Park near Macclesfield.

The team said that recent heavy rain had made many of the paths very slippery resulting in a tumble for a 45 year old lady from Siddington on Monday. December 28.

A spokesperson said: "Paramedics from North West Ambulance Service and the North West Air-ambulance were first on scene to treat her leg injury but required assistance to transfer the casualty from the scene to the aircraft waiting on level ground at Clough Farm.

"It was a short but steep descent on a mountain rescue stretcher but within thirty minutes the lady was being lifted into the air-ambulance for a short trip to Macclesfield hospital."

Before the aircraft could lift off a second call for the mountain rescue was received, this time to the Dane Valley near Wincle.

The team already on callout joined additional volunteers at Dane Bridge Buxton MRT added: "The location of the accident site meant a walk in of over a kilometre for members with the equipment but quickly rendezvoused with ambulance paramedics already treating the casualty.

A fifty-two year old lady from Middlewich, had slipped on the muddy path and sustained a suspected fractured ankle injury. Following medical treatment the lady was placed on a rescue stretcher for a carry-out to the waiting ambulance and onward transport to Macclesfield hospital.
