Buxton & Leek College celebrates students' successes

The special achievements of Buxton & Leek College students have been honoured during a special celebration at the iconic Devonshire Dome.

Over 160 people attended the college’s annual awards evening on July 5, which saw 31 students take to the stage to collect accolades for their accomplishments.

College principal Len Tildsley said: “This is a fantastic evening to join together students, tutors and parents so that we may celebrate the brilliant achievements of so many. I’m immensely proud of the college.”

The outstanding achievement award was won by Julia Knowles, while Kimberley Graf picked up the unsung hero prize. Ken Airey was named tutor of the year.

Among the Buxton students collecting awards were Paulina Stobierska (hairdressing), Fredrick Smith (engineering), Axel Wozny (computing ICT), Anthony Prodromis (motor vehicle), Nicola Vize (access), Gary Rucroft (adult student of the year) and Jack Gill (apprentice L3).

Malcolm Todd, Pro Vice-Chancellor at University of Derby, of which Buxton & Leek College is part of, added: “To hear the stories of fantastic success tonight makes me very humbled about the work that is taking place.”
