The Parent Teacher Association for Buxton Infant School has come up with a new project and after only a few months is nearly at the half way point.

The money will buy a new climbing frame, a climbing wall and a new safety surface.

Laura Bowers, chairman of the group, said: “I wanted the parents to take ownership of the project and it is great so many people have got involved.

“There is a very lovely playground but the equipment is plastic and starting to perish so we wanted to get something which would last and benefit not just our children but future generations.”
The schools most recent fundraiser was a sponsored Zumbathon done with Angela Faulkner who runs Zumba Fitness and Clubbercise classes in Buxton and brought in more than £,000.

Laura said: “When I realised how much we had raised I was ecstatic and bouncing around telling everyone.

“All children had the opportunity to learn a special dance, the day was a huge success and most importantly the children had lots of fun.”

Other fundraisers have been going on since March and included a donating old clothes for cash, a school disco, a bag back at Morrisons and a raffle.

“Everyone has been so generous with their time and donations and it means a lot.

“The playground is well used not just during school time but with nursery, holiday clubs and some parents have bought into the key holder scheme which gives them access to the playground out of hours.”
