“I had around 120 people on both Saturday and Sunday, which is phenomenal.”

This was the first year of the trail, which is sponsored Buxton Town Team, and a total of 26 private gardens were opened to the public for the two-day event.

Jo said: “There were big ones, small ones, and out of the 26 private gardens on display no two were the same.

“Gardeners love talking about their gardens. I think this has been a truly fantastic launch and we have already had interest for next year.”

As well as residential gardens, there were two churches, two hotels and three public areas which all took part in the event, treating visitors to everything from spectacular sweeps of lawn and trees to small but artfully created cottage gardens.

Jo added: “The weather was very fair to us and it was a very affordable day out for the family.”

The aim of the Buxton Garden Trail was to make the spa town a gardening town of excellence.
