Among them were Hayley Errington, 38, of Buxton, and Ben Morris, 28, of Dove Holes.

Mother-of-one Hayley, who will be stationed in Buxton, said: “I first applied to the police when I was 18 and the interest never went away.

“I now work part-time in the council tax office at High Peak Borough Council and have a day free when I can give something back to the community.”

Special constables are volunteers to the police force and some opt to become regular police officers.

Hayley added: “I think the future holds exciting times. I would like to explore the different avenues of police work with a view to getting a ‘proper job’ in the future.”
