A Peak District cheese shop has forced an enterprising relationship with the tourist board.
The Old Cheese Shop, in Hartington, has launched an e–shop on Visit Peak District and Derbyshire’s website.
The tourism board had a joint initiative with University of Derby Buxton to develop the web portal in a bid to boost local trade – a scheme funded by LEADER.
“It’s a real success,” cheese shop owner Claire Milner said.
“A third of our hits now come from the Visit Peak District and Derbyshire e–shop, and it’s only recently gone live.”
The Inspired by the Peak portal also opens a virtual doorway to experiences such as cookery courses and walking adventures, arts and crafts and images taken by some of the area’s leading photographers.
David James, Chief Executive of Visit Peak District and Derbyshire, said: “It’s excellent news that our new Inspired by the Peak portal has had such a positive impact for The Old Cheese Shop within weeks of its launch.
“It has great potential to give tourism-related businesses an all-year-round platform.”
