High Peak company Street Crane has been chosen to help a new business grow.

Commercial vehicle body builder Tiger Trailers, based in Winsford, chose Chapel-en-le-Frith’s Street Crane Company to help them when setting up a new factory.

One five tonne and two three tonne overhead cranes from Street were installed in the spring, with an additional five tonne crane now having been ordered to increase handling and lifting capacity.

Tiger only started in April 2014 but business is booming and they have now won orders from national logistics and retail companies for trailer vans, curtain side trailers, double deck trailers and bespoke rigid bodywork. Operating two separate production lines, the cranes play a crucial role in ensuring efficient material flow during vehicle assembly.

Street’s sales director Chris Lindley-Smith said: “Our overhead cranes are designed and engineered for optimum performance in all applications to support clients’ production needs, offering very high levels of lifting availability and low cost of ownership.

“We are very pleased to work with a new start-up business like Tiger Trailers in providing the materials handling systems for their new fabrication area and it’s personally very rewarding to see this business get up and running so successfully.”

Street Crane is the UK’s largest crane and hoist manufacturer and offers cranes up to 200 tonnes safe working load.

In September, Street Crane celebrated the opening of a new £3 million hoist factory, which it is expected will create up to 20 jobs in the next two years.

The company currently employs around 200 staff.
