New babies group for Whaley Bridge

Two High Peak mums have joined forces with Whaley Bridge Toddlers Group to create a new babies group, after the previous service was cut.

The town’s Post Natal Group closed last June after the Derbyshire Health Visiting Service restructured its teams and cut the funding required to hire a local venue.

Local mums were disappointed at the group’s closure with two, Louise Gough and Katie Tyreman, keen to reinstate the service which they had experienced themselves.

Katie said: “The group of friends that I made during those early months have proved a long-lasting support network.”

And Louise added: “We couldn’t bear the thought of new mums in Whaley Bridge missing out on that.”

The babies group will meet every Friday at 9.30am, starting from February 20, at the Uniting Church, Whaley Bridge. The High Peak Health Visiting Team are hoping to visit once a month.

The toddler group runs on Tuesdays and Fridays at the same venue from 9.30am to 11.30am.

The group always needs volunteers to help with setting up and running the group. Get in touch via the Facebook group or pop in if you can help.
