Shopping has paid off for three Buxton residents, who scooped prizes in a competition aimed at encouraging more people to shop locally.
The Buxton Spa Christmas Shopping Crawl, held for a third successive year in November and December, involved participants collecting stickers on a map from 30 participating independent businesses. Winners were then chosen in a prize draw held at The Old Hall Hotel.
Rachel Hoodith, Buxton Town Team Director and owner of Minibugs Boutique, said “We really love taking part in the Christmas shopping crawl as it is a great way of working with other local independent businesses to increase footfall and sales to our high street.
“It gives each business on the map the opportunity to reach new customers who may not have been in their shops before.”
This year’s lucky first prize winner was Guy Milner, who received £1,000 in cash and shopping vouchers from participating businesses.
Second prize of £200 in cash and vouchers went to Hugh Robertson-Black, with Elizabeth Collins awarded third prize of a spa day for two at the University of Derby’s Devonshire Dome.
Buxton Town Team wish to thank everyone who took part and supported the event, including Neil M Scowcroft of Buxton Spa Aromatics and The Green Man Gallery, Nichola Sargeant of One Small Step, and Sonia Alexis of Spabox.
