A Buxton chippy has been named in the top 50 Best Fish and Chip Shops for the third year running.

Fairfield Plaice, on Victoria Park Road, is one of just eight chippys to make the shortlist for the third consecutive year.

Just under 500 shops entered the competition, run by Fry Magazine, with each one subject to a mystery dining visit by an independent company. Over 40 aspects of the business were assessed including the quality of fish and chips, staff presentation, front-of-house hygiene and customer service.

Every shop in the top-50 list scored 95 per cent or over in their mystery dine.

All shops which entered the competition will receive a copy of their mystery dining sheet, providing valuable feedback, while the 50 best also receive a certificate and an A2 window poster to display in their shops promoting their achievement.
