Body found in Derbyshire in search for missing man

A body has been found in Derbyshire in the search for a missing man.

The body of a man was found between New Mills and Mellor. Although formal identification has yet to take place, the man is believed to be James Philp, 48, from Maple Bridge near Stockport, who was reported missing on Monday.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and colleagues from Derbyshire Constabulary will be preparing a report for HM Coroner.

Specially trained officers are now supporting James’ family at this difficult time.

DS Kelly Wareing, from Staffordshire Police’s Force Safeguarding Investigations team, said: “Our thoughts are with James’ family and friends at this very sad time and we ask that the family’s privacy is respected.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the public who shared the appeal and contacted us with information, along with the media for their support in publicising our appeal.”
