It was a super Saturday for four Buxton neighbours who picked up cheques for an incredible £30,000 after playing the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The Pictor Road residents scooped the incredible sum of cash when their postcode, SK17 7TG, was announced as the winner of the lottery’s Street Prize on July 14.
Susan Nicol, 57, who works as a sales assistant at Marks and Spencer, was lost for words when she pulled her cheque out of the golden envelope.
She said: “I never expected that I’d ever win this much money – it’s just a wonderful surprise and it’s so nice to be able to win with my neighbours too!”
Maintenance Fitter Neil Rucastle, 52, was with his wife Darlene when he found out how much he’d won. He said: “I’m totally chuffed! This has come at the perfect time as we’re in the middle of renovating our house so this will come in very handy.
Also winning was IT Manager David Goodchild, 39, who was joined by wife Susan. He said: “This is a bolt from the blue – I’m very surprised but very happy right now. I just wish I’d bought more than one ticket!
"Susan and I have been meaning to do some home improvements so we’ll be able to do them a lot sooner than expected now.”
People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt presented the winners with their prizes. She said: “I’m totally thrilled for our big winners in Buxton and have had a great time meeting them all and hearing how they’ll be spending their winnings. Sign up to play and I could be knocking on your door next!”
