Belper gardens showcase hailed a blooming success

Over 300 visitors from across the UK visited more than 20 Belper gardens over the course of Saturday and Sunday, enjoying the delightful and diverse horticultural delights on show by residents and at historic parks and buildings.

Organiser Kathy Fairweather, who took part with her garden at 26 Windmill Rise, hailed the event a resounding success and said she hoped it would return even bigger and better in 2016.

“It was wonderful to see, once again, the community working together to showcase the town and its community spirit,” she added.

“Great thanks to all those involved - all the garden openers who worked really hard to ensure their green spaces were of a really high standard; Belper Town Council for its support; Fresh Basil for opening its doors on a Sunday to sell our tickets and Able Design and Print for designing the tickets.

“There was fabulous entertainment at a few of the venues, home-baked refreshments, plant sales and much more to make the experience memorable for all those who came.”
