Hall’s Mica Hardware, which has traded for more than 25 years on Market Street, won the inaugural Marketing Initiative Award 2017 at the DIY Industry’s Annual Awards Dinner.

It was recognised for excellence in its marketing and communication with customers.

Owners Harry and Joyce Hall say they are delighted to land the award.

They said: “It is the continual hard work and excellent customer service of all our dedicated team at Hall’s Mica Hardware which has resulted in receiving this award.”

The judges were impressed by the business ‘thinking like a big one’ and described Hall’s Mica as the ‘stand out winner’.

They said: “This award goes to a very, very impressive business.

“Lots of things stood out – they seem to be constantly reviewing and improving everything.

“The stand out was the use of the customer loyalty card: not just using it to encourage repeat custom, but also to tailor their promotions and events to suit their customers’ needs.”

The awards evening, which was held at Birmingham’s National Motorcycle Museum Conference Centre as part of the Gift & Home Trade Show Spring Fair at the nearby NEC, was compered by BBC journalist Clive Myrie.

Hall’s Mica is a member of a co-operative group of independent hardware/DIY stores trading under the Mica umbrella.

Mica chief executive Michael Ball said: I’d like to personally congratulate Harry, Joyce and all the staff who work so hard in store for their well-deserved award win.”
